S.V. Ciriacy-Wantrup was a professor of agricultural economics at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1938 to 1973. Born in Langenberg, Germany, he was educated at the Universities of Berlin, Vienna, Bonn, and the University of Illinois. After immigrating to the United States in the 1930s he worked briefly for the Rockefeller Foundation.
